So, you want a tattoo do you? You have seen the "cool people" with a little tattoo accenting a particular part of their body. BUT...you have also seen those super creepy folks who could probably walk around naked without ever raising an eyebrow because they seem to have zero recognizable skin left. For whatever reason, you have decided to look further into the realm of tattoos.

Getting a tattoo is not something to be taken lightly. Not only is it going to hurt, it is also forever. Unless of course you want to pay for the removal at a later date which will probably cost you upwards of 10 times what the original tattoo cost to begin with. Getting a tattoo is a big decision.

Two of the most important things to consider are location and subject. You should weigh both equally to create a proper balance. While you may like tribal art tattoos, having one put on your face, AKA Mike Tyson, probably isn't a good career choice. Unless of course you pull in 10 or 20 million for a fight. It is important to consider the response generated by your choice of tattoos in relation to your career choice. However, if you plan on putting a tattoo somewhere only you will see, then by all means...get crazy!

When selecting subject matter for your tattoo, it's probably best to do so on your own time and not in some tattoo parlor. While they may have hundreds of tattoos available, they may not have exactly what you want. Trust me. If you're getting a tattoo, you want it done exactly right! Did I mention they're forever?

Your best bet is to search online. See what's available for free. Maybe sign up on a site or two and select your choice to bring into the artist. They should be able to do most of what you bring them. I would warn against photos though. They never seem to turn out just right and since tattoos are forever...well, you know.

One last thing. Don't forget. Friends don't let friends tattoo drunk!
